When Amy Rainey joined the Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority nearly two decades ago, the department's operations were very different from what they are today. As the current Director of Facilities, Programs, and IT, Rainey has overseen the evolution of their systems – most notably, how the team uses management software to better serve their community.
Tuscaloosa County is anything but a small department. With 7 activity centers, over 35 parks, and multiple sports fields and shelters, managing space used to be a logistical challenge. "We serve a large county," Rainy explained. "It used to take time-consuming calls to confirm whether a space was open or not." Tuscaloosa County needed a fix that would save time and money, which is where RecTrac came in as the perfect solution.
"They were using RecTrac before I started with the agency," Rainey shared. What began as a basic tool for cash handling and facility bookings has grown into a mission-critical system for everything from program registrations and tracking to detailed reporting and member services. Being able to harness the data RecTrac provides is powerful. For Tuscaloosa County, it has helped unlock more resources for community services. RecTrac offers real-time reporting that gives the department the evidence they need to act smarter and delegate funds where needed.
